Inventory software in BangladeshA buyer's checklist

A full warehouse can still lose a sale. The item a customer wants is unavailable, while money sits in products that barely move. Buying more stock can make the cash problem worse.

Inventory management software connects purchases, stock and sales so people can see what is available and what needs buying. In Bangladesh, it must also fit your tax documents, accounts and day to day work.

Wrong stock figures can cost real sales

65%of stock records were inaccurate

Researchers checked nearly 370,000 stock records across 37 stores at one retailer; 65% did not match the physical count. Management Science, 2008.

About 11%higher sales after a stock audit

A study comparing two UK grocery stores found about 11% higher sales following a stock audit. The gain came from items with less stock than the system showed. Journal of Business Logistics, 2026.

When a system says an empty shelf still has stock, it can delay reordering. Correcting the record helps the business recognise the shortage and replenish it.

Sales needs to know what is available

Stock on the shelf may already belong to another order, or be waiting for inspection. Showing those quantities separately helps sales avoid promising goods the warehouse cannot release.

Each branch needs to see its own stock separately from goods elsewhere or still in transit. Barcode scanning identifies the item during receiving and dispatch; recording the quantity updates the stock balance.

Better stock information changes everyday decisions

Buy what is needed

Purchasing needs to see stock already ordered as well as stock on hand. Otherwise, the next shortage can trigger a duplicate purchase. Reorder planning combines those balances with expected demand and supplier delivery time. ERPNext's stock report shows stock on hand, ordered and reserved by item and warehouse.

Spot money sitting idle

Slow moving stock ties up cash that could fund faster selling items. Stock ageing and sales history help identify it. For products with a shelf life, batch and expiry records show which goods need attention before their value is lost.

Keep sales and accounts connected

When the shop counter, warehouse and accounts use separate records, a sale or return can leave different totals in each. With stock accounting enabled, ERPNext records inventory movements in the accounts, helping finance track stock value as goods arrive and leave.

What matters when buying in Bangladesh

AreaWhat a suitable system needs to cover
Tax documentsSupport for the tax invoices and records your business uses, such as the VAT 6.3 tax invoice.
Imported stockFreight, duty and other applicable costs included in stock value. The supplier's price alone may understate the cost of imported goods. Landed cost explained.
Existing systemsA defined connection with your POS, online store and accounts, including how often stock updates.
Daily supportStaff training, support hours and a clear description of which tasks remain available during an internet outage.

The subscription is only part of the cost

The total budget also includes cleaning item records, entering opening stock, setting up connections, training staff, devices and ongoing support. A lower subscription can still come with more implementation work.

A useful quote separates software, setup and migration, and ongoing support. It also identifies any extra app or custom work. That makes the scope and cost easier to compare. See our ERP pricing guide for Bangladesh.

Common buying questions

Do we need an inventory system or a full ERP?

A focused inventory system may suit a business mainly managing stock. An ERP becomes relevant when purchasing, sales, accounts or manufacturing need to share the same records. The extra scope brings more setup and training.

Will software fix inaccurate stock automatically?

No. It needs correct starting balances and recorded stock movements. Regular stock counts help the team find and correct differences.
